Gathr - a social meetup App

Gathr is a social meetup app designed to connect people with similar interests and facilitate in-person gatherings. The app allows users to create and join events, share experiences, and build a community around shared passions.

Design Problem

Meetup apps can be crowded and overwhelming places, especially for members of marginalized or niche groups. How can you create a safe environment where someone belonging to such a demographic can truly connect with like-minded people?

The goal?

To design a Meetup App that solves a real user experience (UX) problem by making it easier and more intuitive for users to find, join, and organize meetups. The project encouraged the use of any design principles, patterns, UI kits, or design systems, with the flexibility to support input via keyboard or voice. The aim was to create a prototype that supports the entire user journey-from initial discovery to successful participation, in a clear and logical way. While a simple screen-to-screen clickable prototype was acceptable, the challenge was to go beyond the basics. We were encouraged to experiment, try new ideas, and include micro-interactions that enhance usability and create a more engaging, polished experience.
